In order to align with the national policy goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and address the needs of carbon reduction and offsetting for businesses, the Taiwan Stock Exchange and the National Development Fund will jointly invest in the establishment of the “Taiwan Carbon Exchange.” It is expected to complete the registration process in the middle of this year (2023). It has been approved by the Export Processing Zone Administration Ministry of Economic Affairs, to settle in the Kaohsiung Software Park.
The Taiwan Carbon Exchange will establish the headquarter in Kaohsiung while settle its information center in Taipei. Its main business will include domestic carbon trading, international carbon trading, and carbon consulting and advocacy services. The domestic carbon trading segment will comply with the regulations and institutional planning of the Environmental Protection Administration to build a domestic carbon trading platform. The international carbon trading segment will negotiate and collaborate with international accreditation institutions based on the needs of domestic enterprises, assisting them in reducing carbon reduction costs in response to international carbon reduction impacts. Additionally, the exchange will provide relevant consultation and advocacy services on issues such as domestic carbon fees and levies, international carbon border taxes, and supply chain carbon neutrality to alleviate carbon concerns among businesses.
The Sustainable Taiwan Expo (TASS2023) continues to foster trend-driven technology sharing and business matching comprehensively and promote sustainable development in industries via emission reduction. It is the ideal exhibition choice for your businesses.
